How CardURL hosted OG URLs work
Getting started
New here? Getting started — trial, site key, brand kit, domain verify, templates, and og:image.
What you get
A stable HTTPS image URL. Slack, X, and iMessage fetch it. You put one meta tag in the page head.
Preview vs paid URL
The lander preview is free and watermarked. It lives at /preview/<template>. The paid URL is /og/<siteKey>/<template>. Unpaid keys 404.
Site key
After Checkout we email the site key. Login at /account recovers it. Your site key shows up in og:image URLs on purpose — it is a public OG identifier. Billing and account changes use your email magic link and the Stripe portal, not the site key.
URL shape
https://cardurl.dev/og/<siteKey>/blog?url=https://yoursite.com/post
Query params set Title, optional Subtitle, Author, Accent color (color), Date (only if you set it), or Auto url on a verified domain. Templates: blog, launch, changelog, docs. Brand kit lives at /account. See templates.
Cancel → 404
Canceling stops renewal. Hosted URLs keep working through the current paid or trial period, then 404. Details: cancel.
What we do not do
Not a website screenshotter. We do not render HTML you send us. Not a credit meter. See examples or go home and try it.
Limits
1200×630 PNG. Title and subtitle 160 characters. Author 80. Auto ?url= only for verified domains. Free preview 30 requests per minute per IP. One site key per subscription.
